A month old at my B-school NITIE!!

A month old at NITIE …….
“Life was, is and would always be a race”. Some months ago I finished up my B-school admission process and thought “this is it!.”I never knew things would be so different .Life is still the same just that I have got a promotion from “rat race(F2) “ to a “cat race(F1)”.Anyways in the true MBA spirit I would simplify things a bit now and would describe my life in the B-School further in the business way. It consists of 5 Ps which define the five senses of my B-school life.

The Five Senses:

• Precipitation
Ever heard the term “raining cats and dogs “?Yes you might have heard of it but seeing it happen live is all together a different experience. It has been raining heavily in Mumbai since I came here. I haven’t even seen the sun for 15 days now .That was strange to me cause I never could have imagined such a situation without a nuclear holocaust. Coming to engineering inventions, it seems that the two most important equipments ever invented were the Umbrella and the rain coat.
A piece of advice: There have been times in the campus when it rains ,but it isn’t water which strikes your head . That’s a riddle for the lesser mortals (not a part of NITIE),and we define it by PPO’s and PPI’s. I have thrice got a PPO and once a PPI and I do not intend getting more lord, that’s too much of a choice.

• Pressure
It started with CAT and GD/PI and has been sustained by GROOVE (induction program for 1st year students at NITIE) and the committee interviews as well.” Sleep” , biologically defined as a “necessity for a man” has been turned into a luxury of late.
Groove involving various activities including dramas, music, case studies and games gave me better insights to the B-school life.
Committee interviews from midnights to early mornings, combined with the late night coffees, maggis has been a different experience altogether. It has taught us not only to sustain pressure but to enjoy it. This will be one of the important learning s for the forthcoming corporate life.

• Pond
That’s the USP of NITIE’s life and it has many dimensions to it .I have realised that this pond is elixir of life for most of us at NITIE .May he be a “Lover Boy/Girl”, ”Health freak Athlete”, ”Smoker” ,”photographer” there is something in it for everyone. Not a day has passed when I haven’t visited the pond. Chatting with friends to looking at other’s girlfriends, ”birthday bashes” ,jamming”, all have been a part and parcel of life here and “THE POND “ has been an integral part of it.

• People
“All engineering B-school”, looks odd , sounds odd but still has made the mark in the industry. I feel somehow justifies the adage “ winners don’t do different things but they do it differently”.
My friends group has doubled over a month .People are friendly , diverse, achievers but still modest. It is something like a little mafia, a friend of mine is a friend of yours and hence you are part of a gang. If NITIE has been a resort away from home it cannot go without the ingredient of the pool of people I have around me.

• Professors:
“Knols, blogs, quizzes, assignments, presentations, mid terms”, these words aren’t alien to me now, 1 month down the line at NITIE, thanks to the experienced faculty who have kept me busy all the time. Their experience mixed with our enthusiasm, NITIE has been a great learning experience.

Writing the experience draws my mind to the sixth P or in other words the sixth sense. P for Prerana or P for Placecom or may be a P in imPress. I am not an oracle to tell the same , but the sixth sense surely going to be an important addendum in life at NITIE in the years to come. Anyways have been a little verbose with the experience here but would like to keep my pen down with the following thoughts on NITIE:

“The woods here are dark and green,
The stairs are going to turn me lean,
Sleeping here is surely less seen,
Life can be so much fun , am I sure it isn’t a dream?”
